Damsel in Distress

Doodlers Anonymous is now back with the first showcase of the year. Counted as #13, the challenge for this showcase is to hijack a magazine ad and manually do anything we want to it.

I found an awesome page of this kid from a Men's Health Magazine where he stacks layers of ham and cheese between two cookies. It's a mecha jawbreaker! :p

I immediately thought of a tower where a lady from the medieval times was in distress. Unfortunately, the giant pushed through and will get his prize XD

Here's an interesting fact about October. We all know the prefix octo-, oct-, and octa- means eight with words such as october, octopus, octagon, octohedron, octajump, octotroph, etc.

But why is October the tenth month?

That's because October is the eight month of the Roman Calendar but now that we use the Gregorian Calendar, two months were added and October got pushed :)

Rotate my Block

Rotate my Block is my entry for Doodler's Anonymous' Showcase #9 which is about a calendar draw for the Month of June 2012.

Inspiration flowed through while making straight lines. I thought about Tetris which in fact was created by Alexey Pajitnov on June 6, 1984.

The title for this doodle should have been "Rotate my Tetrimino" but according to Wikipedia, a tetrimino, also called a tetramino or tetromino, is a geometric shape composed of four squares connected orthogonally. Thus, it can't be named as such.

I had fun making this doodle because as far as I know, this is my first time to incorporate straight lines. I'm not into this but I needed to make my doodle look more game-like. Still, I want my work to reflect my personality so I didn't use a ruler to create the inner rectangles :p

Sunny Logic

Recently, I joined DoodlersAnonymous' Showcase #7 which is doodling a wall decal for Blik, the world's first removable wall graphic company. Members must scan their work, use any graphic software, place it on DA's provided mocked-up studio wall. The entry with the most number of votes will be sold as a 100-piece limited edition.

Jelly-Flower

I'm lucky to find a website for people who are into doodling, it's at DoodlersAnonymous.com. They have been around since 2008 featuring artists and a variety of doodles around the globe.

I'm still a newbie to the site and I must say, it's pretty amazing! Tons of neat stuff to feed our eyes. I came across to their "Showcases", which is a competition of doodling with different themes.

DA.com is creating a 2012 Calendar which is then they came up with Showcase #6. Interested DA members will create a doodle for the month of February 2012 including its days. Materials such as paint, marker, pencil, and pen to name a few can be used. The entry with the most number of votes will win two copies of the said calendar.

I gave it a shot and here's what I came up with.

Jelly-Flower

As far as I remember, this is my first time to join an online contest for my creative side so I was a bit nervous XD

My Jelly-Flower doodle for the month of February 2010 is made entirely from a pen. I didn't want to put any heart shaped symbols 'cause it would look tacky, and girly. I thought about a flower and just doodled away. If you turn my work sideways to the right, it's a fictional jellyfish XD

I may not have won but the experience was worth it! And I got 12 votes YAY!!! :)
